Second International Patent Granted to EnviroScrub 8 September, 2004 Minneapolis, Minnesota EnviroScrub Technologies Corporation ("EnviroScrub") has received notification of the Eurasian Patent Office's decision granting EnviroScrub its second international patent. The patent is entitled "System and Process for Removal of Pollutants from a Gas Stream" and is owned by EnviroScrub. The patent contains 60 claims, covering various embodiments of EnviroScrub's systems and processes for the removal of targeted pollutants, such as oxides of sulfur (SOX), oxides of nitrogen (NOX), mercury compounds, elemental mercury (Hg) and ash. These include single, dual and modular removal systems and processes. In addition to protecting these embodiments of EnviroScrub's Pahlman Process™ technology, the claims also provide coverage for different aspects of the electronic process controls, and sorbent regeneration methods, and the use of EnviroScrub's proprietary sorbents in electronically-controlled pollutant removal systems and processes. The proprietary sorbents, which are based on oxides of manganese, have been trademarked as Pahlmanite™ Sorbents. The granting decision by the Eurasian Patent Office will expand the scope of EnviroScrub's patent protection in the Eurasian Region. The patent that will issue from the granting decision makes additional patent protection available within all countries that are members of the Eurasian Region. Richard Boren, EnviroScrub's Vice President-Technology commented, "With the granting of EnviroScrub's second international patent application, EnviroScrub is on target in securing international protection for its intellectual property. In addition to its U.S. patents, EnviroScrub has strengthened its international patent protection in the world's fifth largest coal-consuming nation, the Russian Federation, one of a number of countries that may benefit greatly from EnviroScrub's high pollutant removal efficiencies." EnviroScrub's systems and processes have the ability to remove up to 99% of both oxides of sulfur and nitrogen (SOX and NOX) and up to 97% of oxidized mercury, as demonstrated in recent pilot testing trials. Further independently verified testing demonstrated the ability to simultaneously remove 99% of elemental mercury, 94% of total mercury, 99% of SO2 and 96% of NOX. EnviroScrub, a privately-held deployment-stage company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, licenses its patented and proprietary dry Pahlman™ Process NOX / SOX / Hg / PM 2.5 / HCl / H2S scrubbing technology to power generation and industrial plants worldwide. EnviroScrub plans to compete in the multi-billion dollar U.S. Emissions Reduction Technology market with its first commercial-scale projects in 2005.
