EnviroScrub Granted First International Patent
5 December, 2003
Minneapolis, Minnesota

EnviroScrub Technologies Corporation (“EnviroScrub”) has received a notice dated 28 October, 2003, from the Eurasian Patent Office of its decision granting EnviroScrub its first international patent. The patent is entitled “System and Process for Removal of Pollutants from a Gas Stream” and is owned by EnviroScrub.

The Patent contains 13 Claims, directed at protecting varying embodiments of EnviroScrub’s systems and processes for the removal of targeted pollutants, such as oxides of sulfur (SOx), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO). The granted claims provide further protection of uses of EnviroScrub’s proprietary systems, processes for both pollutant capture and sorbent regeneration, as well as Dual-Stage Wet-Dry systems. The sorbents, which are based on oxides of manganese, have been trademarked as Pahlmanite™ Sorbents.

The grant of a patent by the Eurasian Patent Office makes patent protection available within the countries that are members of the Eurasian Region. With this grant, EnviroScrub has patent protection in the fifth largest coal consuming nation, Russia.

EnviroScrub’s Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Charles Hammel, commented, “With the granting of EnviroScrub’s first international patent and its third patent this year, EnviroScrub is on target in securing U.S. and international protection for its intellectual property. In addition to its U.S. patents, EnviroScrub has now established international patent protection in the world’s fifth largest coal-consuming nation, the Russian Federation, one of a number of countries that may benefit greatly from EnviroScrub’s high pollutant removal efficiencies.” EnviroScrub’s systems and processes have the ability to remove up to 99% of both oxides of sulfur and nitrogen (SOx and NOx) and up to 97% oxidized mercury, as demonstrated in recent pilot testing trials.

EnviroScrub, a privately-held deployment-stage company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, licenses its patented and proprietary dry Pahlman™ Process NOx / SOx / Hg / PM 2.5 / HCl / H2S scrubbing technology to power generation and industrial plants worldwide. EnviroScrub plans to compete in the multi-billion dollar U.S. Emissions Reduction Technology market with its first commercial-scale projects in 2004.
